What to Expect

When you arrive

  1. 1
    Ring the doorbell.
  2. 2
We'll help your child settle in and explain everything before the assessment begins.

What to bring

Nothing special is needed. If your child wears glasses for reading or school work, please bring those. A drink is fine too.

No need to revise or prepare — just come as you are.

Anything We Should Know?

If anything would help your child feel more comfortable — anxiety, sensory needs, communication preferences, a SEND diagnosis, or anything else — please let us know in advance. We're happy to make adjustments.

Common Questions

Will my child be tested?
The assessment isn't something your child can pass or fail. It simply helps us understand their strengths, spot any gaps and recommend the right support.
What if my child is nervous?
Many children are. Our team work with anxious, shy and neurodivergent children every day and are experienced at helping them feel at ease.
How long will the assessment take?
Maths assessments are generally quicker than English. If we're looking at both subjects, allow around 45 minutes to one hour in total.
Can I stay during the assessment?
You're welcome to wait in the centre. We do find that children often relax more quickly and open up better when they're with us on their own — but we'll always follow your child's lead. After the assessment, we'll sit down with you to go through everything: scores, observations and our recommendations.
What if we're running late?
Please call 01268 762815 and we'll do our best to help.
